Closed Loop Design to Fabrication Process

One year after our ABB GoFas, Thelma and Louise, joined our team, we revisited one of the first projects they completed: tower stacking with blocks… however, with an upgrade this time. Thelma’s Schunk gripper is now equipped with a digital sensor from Baumer, allowing her to take in data from the real environment to capture and accommodate for material deviations and inconsistencies, which in this case is a variation in block heights. Using a COMPAS_RRC Custom Instruction, Thelma can take the design data exported from Grasshopper, measure the real height of each block, then make the necessary adjustments in real time and send the information back to Grasshopper, creating a closed-loop design to fabrication process.
