Modular Assemblies

This project was completed by Sam Lanesmith and Charles Cayouette. Using the robot as an analogue to an on-site crane, they modelled process of assembling a prefabricated mass-timber building. Magnets were used as a method to abstract both the joinery details and the lifting anchors at the model scale to focus on the assembly sequence itself. Prefabricated components included the core components (walls and stairs), structural columns, floor plates, façade panels, and interior partition pods.
