Graduate architecture student Sinan Husic leads the CSALT 3D printing lab in 2020-2021 working with Professor Sheryl Boyle and supported by Canadian Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute and a MITACS Accelerate grant. Husic's research project entitled "Digital Fabrication and Design using Ultra-High Performance Concrete" uses hybrid technologies of concrete casting, forming and 3D printing to open new avenues for the reduction of carbon-intensive Portland Cement in new concrete mixtures that allow thinner structures to be created using new digital tools in combination with standard industry techniques.
